Bitcoin's Lightning Network processed ₱67.92 billion ($1.17 billion) across 5.22 million transactions in November 2025. Average transaction values nearly doubled from ₱6,850 ($118) to $223 compared to the previous year.
Bitcoin's Lightning Network processed ₱67.92 billion ($1.17 billion) across 5.22 million transactions in November 2025, according to data from River Financial. Each Lightning payment averaged $223, up from $118 the previous year.
River Financial aggregated data from major node operators including ACINQ, Kraken, Breez, Lightspark, and LQWD, covering over half of the network's total capacity. The firm said the data debunks misconceptions that Lightning adoption isn't happening.
Micropayment theory suggested high-frequency, low-value payments would dominate, but mental transaction costs for humans limit this behavior. AI agents could change this dynamic since they don't face the same mental friction when making small payments. Lightning Labs released an open-source toolkit for AI agents last week, and River Financial analysts expect future experimentation with AI-powered agentic payments to drive new spikes in network usage.
The network's capacity hit a record 5,606 BTC in December 2025, even as public channel counts declined from around 75,000 to roughly 52,700 due to consolidation and efficiency improvements. Lightning's share of Bitcoin payments climbed to 16.6% in Q2 2024 from just 6.5% two years earlier.
Secure Digital Markets demonstrated the network's institutional capability in February 2025 when it executed a ₱58.05 million ($1 million) Lightning transfer to Kraken, shattering the previous public record of $140,000. River Financial plans to release a comprehensive Bitcoin adoption report on February 19, 2026.
