Coins.ph Adds USDT, USDC to 700,000 QRPh Merchants
Coins.ph users holding USDT or USDC can now spend stablecoins directly at nearly 700,000 QRPh-enabled merchants nationwide. The wallet converts crypto to pesos in real-time at checkout, with refunds always processed in pesos.
Key Takeaway
Stablecoins just became spendable at most Philippine QR payment points, bridging crypto holdings with everyday purchases.
Coins.ph rolled out a QRPh payment system that lets users complete transactions with USDT, USDC, or Philippine pesos in a single checkout flow. The feature went live today and works at nearly 700,000 merchants across the Philippines that accept the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas QR code standard.
The wallet supports three payment modes: pesos only, stablecoin conversion to pesos at checkout, or split payments between both asset types. Real-time conversion quotes appear during the transaction, and the system processes reversals automatically if the QRPh payment fails. Refunds always come back in pesos, regardless of whether the original payment used stablecoins or local currency.
Coins.ph CEO Wei Zhou said the initiative makes crypto more usable in everyday scenarios and simplifies merchant transactions for users holding funds across different asset types. He added that Coins.ph is setting a new standard for national payments by transforming crypto into a versatile tool for daily life.
The platform processed ₱1.85 trillion ($30 billion) in QRPh transactions during December 2025. Coins.ph plans to integrate additional tokens in coming months beyond the current USDT and USDC support. The feature makes Coins.ph the first Philippine e-wallet to integrate stablecoin payment capabilities with the QRPh standard as of April 30, 2026.
🇵🇭 What This Means for Filipinos: OFWs who receive remittances in USDT can now spend their stablecoins directly at sari-sari stores, restaurants, and service providers without converting to pesos first in a separate step. BSP-licensed Coins.ph's integration with the national QRPh standard means the feature works at the majority of digital payment-enabled merchants nationwide.
