Ethereum started a fresh decline from $1,900 and crashed 6%, dropping below the $1,880 level before bulls attempted a recovery.
The price hit a low at $1,845 and has since staged a minor recovery wave to $1,865. That bounce ran into resistance at the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level of the downward move from the $1,994 swing high to the $1,845 low. The bigger problem sits at $1,920, where the 50% Fib retracement level lines up with the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average. A bearish trend line is also forming with resistance near $1,950 on the hourly chart.
The hourly MACD is gaining momentum in the bearish zone, while the hourly RSI has dropped below the 50 zone. This setup usually precedes another leg down, not a recovery.
If Ethereum manages to break above $1,920, the next resistance sits at $2,000. A clear move above that major level could push the price toward $2,050 or even $2,120 in the near term.
If the price fails to hold current levels, first support sits at $1,825. A break below that opens the door to $1,780, then $1,740. The main support to watch is $1,720, according to hourly chart data from Kraken.
